ChalkyBoard

Best whiteboard ever?

Find out now, for free.

A whiteboard built to make teaching intuitive, learning enjoyable, and searching for lesson docs and sending whiteboards manually a thing of the past. Drop in a problem set or a photo of a worksheet and page through it. Write, highlight, erase, work on graph paper or a coordinate plane, and switch between light, dark and a real chalkboard. Every whiteboard tool is free, and the whole thing is built for tutoring rather than borrowed from a design tool.

Pause any time to look around

A lesson on the board. Turn on the pen, bottom right, and draw anywhere on this page yourself.

Your PDF, on the board

Drop in a problem set and step through it a page at a time, writing straight onto it. Photos and screenshots work the same way, so a picture of a worksheet is on screen in about two seconds.

No whiteboard tool is behind a paywall

Every pen and every whiteboard tool, on the free account. There is no locked highlighter and no watermark, because a lesson is a terrible moment to discover a feature costs money.

Press Clear, keep the board

Clearing saves what was there first, then wipes it. Tidying up in the middle of a session stops being something you have to think about.

Made for how the hour actually goes

The math tools you need, behind one button so a reading tutor never sees them. Graph paper and coordinate plane on a keypress. Light, dark and a real chalkboard. It opens in a browser tab with nothing to install, so it works on the school laptop, the borrowed machine and the iPad.

Your student draws with you

Simply generate, copy, and send a link and they open the same board on their own iPad or laptop, with their own drawing tool. Watch them work instead of guessing where it went wrong, and switch their drawing off in the Invite panel when it is your turn. Free on every plan.

Every board, filed for you

Save a board and it lands under that student, in that session, with the date on it. Thursday starts with Tuesday already on screen. That, your own Content Pack (PDFs, docs, pngs, etc) library, and emailing the boards home are what the paid plans add.

Free beta, open now

Every paid feature, free while the beta runs

The whiteboard is free for everyone, always. The beta opens the rest of it: every board saved and filed by student, your own material one click from the board, and the lesson emailed home when it is over. Saving a board is free during the beta on every account.

Take a beta spot Create a free account No card, and nothing switches off without warning.

Bring a tutor friend, unlock the full beta

Share ChalkyBoard with another tutor, and when they sign up you both get all of it, free, for the whole beta.

One thing worth saying up front: invites need to go to another real teacher or tutor. A second account of your own will not count toward your free beta access.

Five tutors

Studio, free for three months

Five teachers sign up with your link and Studio is yours for three months after the beta ends, at no cost.

Ten tutors

Studio, free for a full year

Ten and it runs for a year instead. You keep it either way once the paid plans start.

Every board, saved and waiting

Come back to any whiteboard from this session or from three months ago. Pick up exactly where you left off, work through a tricky problem again, and see at a glance which concepts you have already covered with someone.

Filed by student, filed by date

Which concepts did you cover in session 3 with Hayden? What did you mean to get to with Priya in session 1 and never quite reach? Open that student's folder and every board is there, in order, with the date on it.

Your own material, one click away

Do you teach the same opening lesson to every SAT student? Do you lose ten minutes hunting for the file you always use with your AP kids, your 7th grade English group, or your ACT students? Upload your PDFs, cheat sheets and images once, then pull one up mid-lesson and write straight on it.

Send the lesson home

One tap emails you and parents every board from the session. It saves you time and shows parents their money is being well-spent.

Make a free account and your link is in the menu under Bring a tutor friend.

Why the free tier is the whole product

Most tools in this category give you a crippled board and charge you to make it work. That is backwards. A tutor in front of a student needs every tool to be there, and a lesson is a bad moment to discover that the highlighter is a paid feature. So the board is complete for everybody, and what will cost money later is storage and the things a practice needs: session history, a student roster, your own Content Pack (PDFs, docs, pngs, etc) library.

Your student can draw with you, free

Send them a link and they open the same board on their own iPad or laptop, with their own drawing tool. You watch them work instead of guessing, and you can turn their pen off with one tap when it is your turn to explain. A lesson link lasts twelve hours and reads like chalkyboard.com/dove2413, which is short enough to send via text or email, or say over the phone and get right the first time.

Later, on Studio, you can reserve one that never changes: chalkyboard.com/join/yourname. Print it on a card, put it in your email signature, and it always leads to whichever board you have open. A business on Team gets one for each tutor, so a student reaches the person they booked rather than whoever happens to be teaching.
